Music Lessons 2023-24

WOODWIND Recorder, Flute, Saxophone, Clarinet   STRINGS Violin, Viola, Cello, Piano  ROCK BAND! Rock vocals and instruments   DRUMS Djembe   SINGING Choir

We offer access to a range of music lessons at Prae Wood. These are mostly available for children in Key Stage 2. They complement music teaching that is delivered to all children as part of their national curriculum learning in school and, as such, there is a charge to take part. Instrument lessons take place during the school day and pupils leave lessons to attend. The majority of the timetables rotate so that children do not miss the same lesson each week, but there is not extra time available for 'catch-up'.

Recorder Ensemble, large group lessons, Year 3 ONLY

Run by Prae Wood School, delivered by Mrs Sutton-Muldoon (peripatetic music teacher)

Children are invited at the end of in Year 2 to join the Recorder Ensemble Group in Year 3. These are large group lessons with Mrs Sutton-Muldoon and are available subject to enough interest. Lessons take place at the same time each week as, historically, many pupils take part at the same time so teachers work around this.

Payment is made via School Gateway and parents will need to provide an instrument and the relevant book for their child.

Prae Wood Primary School and Herts Music Service

All children in Year 5 take part in group ukulele lessons, led by an external teacher and supported by our in-school music teacher, Mrs Tinkler. These lessons are free to all Year 5 children and provided in partnership with Herts Music Service.

In the summer term, we hope to extend these lessons to pupils in Year 2 as well, to enthuse them about music making ahead of the start of KS2
