Pupils' street dancing is out of this world...

Pupils who dance with our after school Street Dance Club, BeaTz, took part in a recent competition, with teams from Y2 and also KS2 participating.

Y2 danced to 'Stargazing' by Myles Smith and were dressed accordingly in NASA T-shirts or spacesuits. Special recognition was awarded to Ashton, who was noted by the judges and awarded a prize accordingly.

Their parents reported that they all did a brilliant job, dancing really well together, meaning that the performance was a real pleasure to watch.

Netball v Cunningham Hill
The netball team played their first Division 1 match away to Cunningham Hill on Monday.

With teams now in seeded leagues, games are more evenly matched and this was a close fixture with the score tied at 3-3 going into the final quarter.  Two Prae Wood goals in the last quarter gave Prae Wood a 5-3 win.  As current holders of the division 1 trophy, this was a positive first step in the their efforts to retain the trophy.  It was a great team effort as always and Harry continued his dominance with another Most Valuable Player award.  Well done everyone.

Y5 work with visiting scientist

As part of our Green Schools Project, Year 5 participated in a workshop with Andrew Scullard, scientist. He explained what a scientist does, where they work and what they sometimes wear.

The children then went on to discuss the issue of carbon emissions and what Mr Scullard specifically does. They learned that he explores new materials that convert or capture these harmful gases, focusing on making them better, cheaper and longer lasting.

The children then took part in an exciting practical activity. In teams they tried to make the fastest windmill / turbine out of paper plates. They were able to test and assess their various designs in the classroom and make scientific observations about how manipulating the materials affected the outcome.
