Eco Warrior visit to Verulamium Park and Grebe House
The Eco Warriors recently visited Verulamium Park and created a dead wood pile for larger creatures to shelter in, such as hedgehogs, and smaller insects to inhabit. They learned about 'wild' hedges and the issue of cutting hedges around the park. They discussed the importance of creating Wildflower Meadows and talked about how they were going to develop our own school one further.
They then went on to Grebe House, Wildlife Garden and saw the many measures the volunteers had taken to support local wildlife, including the pond, composting areas and the creation of wildlife areas to encourage pollinators. After heading back to school, the children all made a bird feeder to take home!
